A rare species with very large and dark leaves

Young leaves initially have a dark purple color that gradually changes to the final dark green color. This phenomenon is common in plants and ensures that young leaves do not appear attractive to herbivores.

The size and shine of the leaves make this species truly impressive. The leaves can grow to 95 centimeters long and about 70 cm wide. This is relatively large for an Anthurium and especially for an epiphytic species.

The plant produces inflorescences in red color!

Botanical description

In the wild, the species is rare and occurs in the state of Mérida in western Venezuela. It grows at altitudes between 1500 and 1800 meters in humid mountain forests.

As an epiphyte, it grows on trees in its natural habitat, which is typical of many Anthurium species from mountain forests. This growth habit requires special adaptation to moist but well-drained conditions.

Care

Use a very airy soil mix with sphagnum, bark and perlite. Orchid soil also works great, this is the soil they are planted in right now. The soil should be constantly slightly moist. Also use a well-draining pot, such as an orchid pot .

Place in a bright location out of direct sunlight. Direct sun can damage the large, delicate leaves.

Keep the humidity around 60% and the temperature between 20 and 28°C. Buy Anthurium chamberlainii online!

A wonderful edition!
Format: Paperback
I highly recommend this edition above all others available. The translation is very clear and lucid and actually makes Timaeus and Critias real page-turners. Not only is the translation great, but the introductory material is incredible. While one review here mentions that the translation misses some of the nuance of Platonic thought (which I don't necessarily agree with that), the introduction more than makes up for that. So many available editions of Timaeus are written by reluctant scholars who act puzzled as to why they've been asked to introduce Timaeus when they are obviously either not fond of it, or dismissive of it as an authentic piece of Plato's canon. At last, we have an edition that is faithful and generous to the source material!

The origin of Atlantis was orally passed down from an Egyptian priest.
Format: Paperback
I haven’t even finished it yet because I’ve been very busy with college. However, it is fascinating to read the story of Atlantis. Personally, I believe it was a real lost city. Mythology can sometimes be true if it speaks about lost cities.
